[81] ﻭﻣﻦ ﻛﻼﻡ ﻟﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﺍﻟﺴﻼﻡ [ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﺰﻫﺪ] ﺃَﻳُّﻬَﺎ ﺍﻟﻨَّﺎﺱُ، ﺍﻟﺰَّﻫَﺎﺩَﺓُ ﻗِﺼَﺮُ ﺍﻻََْﻣَﻞِ، ﻭَﺍﻟﺸُّﻜْﺮُ ﻋِﻨْﺪَ ﺍﻟﻨِّﻌَﻢِ، ﻭﺍﻟﻮﺭﻋُﻌِﻨْﺪَ ﺍﻟْـﻤَﺤَﺎﺭِﻡِ، ﻓَﺈِﻥْ ﻋَﺰَﺏَ ﺫﻟِﻚَ ﻋَﻨْﻜُﻤْﻔَﻼَ ﻳَﻐْﻠِﺐِ ﺍﻟْﺤَﺮَﺍﻡُ ﺻَﺒْﺮَﻛُﻢْ، ﻭَﻻَ ﺗَﻨْﺴَﻮْﺍ ﻋِﻨْﺪَ ﺍﻟﻨِّﻌَﻢِ ﺷُﻜْﺮَﻛُﻢْ، ﻓَﻘَﺪْ ﺃَﻋْﺬَﺭَﺍﻟﻠﻪُ ﺇِﻟَﻴْﻜُﻤْﺒِﺤُﺠَﺞٍ ﻣُﺴْﻔِﺮَﺓٍﻇَﺎﻫِﺮَﺓٍ، ﻭَﻛُﺘُﺐٍ ﺑَﺎﺭِﺯَﺓِ ﺍﻟْﻌُﺬْﺭِ (ﺭ ﻭَﺍﺿِﺤَﺔٍ . About the way of preaching and counselling O' people! abstinence is to shorten desires, to thank for bounties and to keep off prohibitions. If this is possible then (at least) the prohibitions should not overpower your patience. Allah has exhausted the excuse before you through clear, shining arguments and open, bright
